In case you don't recognize it, this gaudy yellow ribbon with red and green stripes is the Viet Nam Service Medal. It means, I was there.
And here we are... during Operation Lynn River, about 20 km southwest of Da Nang, in 1969. That guy on the right - the only one wearing a Marine cover - is me, owner, operator, and chief bottle washer of Cambrian Geological LLC. That black thing in the foreground is an 81mm mortar, which is natural given that we were all mortarmen.
