Aquifer Testing

We determine the physical characteristics of aquifers at sites where it is necessary to know groundwater flow rates, such as Establishment sites (in Connecticut), RCRA sites and excavations requiring significant dewatering. If you only need to estimate lateral flow velocities, we can perform state-of-the-art slug/bail tests – we use Bouwer and Rice’s method, augmented by Binkhorst and Robbins’ correction for partially-submerged screens, a correction for anisotropy (if it’s known), and Butler’s method for hi-K aquifers. Other consultants use Bouwer and Rice, without augmentation.

If you need a pumping-well test, we can get the most out of it. In addition to lateral hydraulic conductivity, we can also determine the vertical conductivity, specific yield, aquifer thickness, and well-bore skin parameter. Other consultants typically determine the lateral conductivity.
